Report

On Saturday, the 1st of September, I had the chance to see Chris Norman and his band live on stage at the open air in Purkersdorf, Austria.

As always it was a fantastic show. Chris and the band had a lot of fun which everyone in the audience could see. It was so pleasant to see Geoff again. I am very glad that he is back again in the band. His way of playing guitar is really great and suits perfect to Chris.

Chris, dressed in jeans and a silver coloured shirt, opened up with Break Away, followed by I’ll Meet You At Midnight. During the next one and a half hours we heard a perfect mixture of good old Smokie songs like Alice, Needles & Pins, Mexican Girl, Baby It’s You, Don’t Play Your Rock’n’Roll, If Your Think You Know How to Love Me as well as songs of Chris’s solo carrier as for example Amazing, Lost in Flight (which is a sensational song for a live performance), Turn Right Turn Wrong, All Day and a lot more. Me and my friends – all of us are “old and true Chris fans for more than 30 years” – sang along with Chris and the band the whole evening. Chris’s “Growing Years Medley” raised up the mood of the audience. Although is was raining and quite cold we were singing and clapping our hands and felt so good. Chris looks so handsome. Nobody would believe that he is nearly 57! He behaves like a young boy. I guess his music keeps him young and us too.

The time went by so fast and after the final song (Rock’n’Roll of Led Zeppelin) the show ended. It was a wonderful evening and we enjoyed the concert very much. Now we really do hope that Chris will come back to Austria very soon.
